Le Vian. What’s the big deal?
Le Vian is a family owned business known for their love of reinventing jewelry. They use combinations of colored diamonds, gemstones and gold to create multiple collections of jewelry. Le Vian takes pride in creating these unique collections. In fact, part of their mission is to make fine jewelry affordable. They are able to do this by mining in specific places where certain stones are at their peak and are therefore well priced. Once the stone becomes less available at the mine, the jewelry that Le Vian creates with them becomes more valuable. It is in this way that they have taken the not so popular, brown diamonds and made them a Le Vian staple. They trademarked the term Chocolate Diamonds in 2000. With this trademark, Le Vian gave customers the assurance that they are getting an authentic piece of their jewelry. If you don't see 'Chocolate Diamonds' you aren't getting Le Vian.
Le Vian really trademarks their product names?
Yes. It is a sure way to make sure that you are getting a Le Vian piece. Copying is all too common in the jewelry industry. Le Vian insists that each of their designs start with an original idea that is drawn out with pencil and paper. They have created 100,000+ ideas in this way. Each piece you purchase is also registered with Le Vian. This is a way to put an imaginary barcode on your jewelry so that Meigs and Le Vian know what you have purchased and can help you later on down the road with new matching pieces or an upgrade to a larger piece.
