Christmas in July is a real thing when you work in retail. Lots of people think that it’s too early to even be thinking about Christmas let alone start buying gifts or decorations for the Christmas Season. Well I can say, it’s November and from firsthand experience July IS when you should start thinking about it. Christmas is no joke!
Holidays, mainly Christmas, in retail are something you can’t explain. You have to live it to get it. Christmas at Meigs is the perfect example. Everyone in the building really does shift into over drive starting in November and we don’t relax until after the New Year. Then we gear up real quick for Valentine’s Day, but that’s another story for another day.
I’ve compiled a schedule of events for this Holiday Season. Our marketing team has been working hard to make sure the events we are sharing with you are the best they can be. We have some good ones coming too, so be on the lookout!
Can I just add that the Marketing Calendar that goes along with this one is 3-4 pages long? I mean, it's crazy! Todd, myself and our marketing firm in New York (who are awesome btw), spend hours and hours on conference calls, sending emails, texts and sharing messages over social media so that every event we bring to our customers is special. That isn't just for Christmas though. That is all throughout the year. We are just on another level in December. Everyone here at Meigs comes together to make the Holiday Season one that our customers will enjoy.
So, let's break this schedule down just a little bit...
November 21st is Downtown Ladies Night Out. It is a super busy night for our downtown shops.
It starts later in the evening and goes, well, until the ladies are done shopping. Our store is filled with holiday shoppers; I'm talking shoulder to shoulder!
Besides our 15% store wide discount, we are bringing back a customer favorite. With any purchase you can buy a $100 gift card for only $50!! (limit 1 per customer) You can't beat free money!
Our Kendra Scott Corner is another hot spot in the store that night.
With our storewide discount, it is a great time to get some Christmas shopping out of the way and Kendra Scott is always a good gift idea.

Next up is the ‘Holiday in Whoville’ Window Competition November 22nd- December 15th. We are pumped about this one! Downtown merchants are channeling all of their creativity to make their display windows ‘Whoville’ themed. Justin and Mandy have put in extra hours making our window stand out and AWESOME!

Also, here's a little behind the scenes on how it looked to the people passing by when we were taking these pictures and doing a video (reflections are a difficult thing to work around). I'd love to know what people are wondering when they walk or drive by while we are in the middle of something like this. Lol

To spend time with family and friends, the Meigs staff will be taking a couple extra days off after Christmas. We will be closing at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 28th and we will reopen on Thursday, January 2nd at 9:30am.
